Compassion for animals is intimately connected with goodness of character; and it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals cannot be a good man.
If you don’t know (although I’m pretty confident that by now all of my lovely readers definitely do), I LOVE animals. By love I really mean love and by animals I mean all of them; from cats to snakes, from fish to spiders. I may not necessarily like them all, but I can easily find something to love about them and I truly believe they have as much right to live on this planet we call home just as much as anybody else. In this case, my day at the Wildlife Friends Foundation was pretty much my ultimate dream come true.
The foundation began with a Dutch man, a Thai lady and a rescued Macaque; local animal sanctuaries were so full they had monkeys chained to desks so they decided to set up a charity of their own. 16 years and hundreds of animals later; Gibbons, Otters, Elephants, Bears and countless other species now have a forever home at the WFFT. The volunteers were super friendly and really knowledgeable- they knew each animal’s name and could tell you anything you wanted about their care. It was abundantly clear that the animals’ welfare was the top priority here and they constantly strived to mimic the wild as much as possible.
Joe’s family and I spent a full day here, 1800 BHT for hotel transfers, buffet lunch (including delicious vegan options), a guided tour, a walk and bath with an elephant and a bus ride around the grounds are all included in the price- BARGAIN! If you’re in Hua Hin you need to visit here, this place is special, unique, one in a million, like nothing else I’ve ever seen. I NEED to come and work here one day!
Much love from wherever I am
