Joe and I don’t usually pay for excursions or structured tours; we much prefer to do things ourselves, but when we discovered a trip to Mt. Bromo an active volcano we just couldn’t pass up the chance. We paid 480,000 IDR (around £30) for a 9 hour train journey, a night in a really nice hotel, a lovely breakfast, transport to the volcano and a 10 hour shuttle bus back to our hostel- what an absolute bargain. Yes this is over our daily budget, but how often do you get to climb a volcano? We did also attempt to plan this trip ourselves but the train tickets alone were more than the entire excursion, so it was a no brainer really.
I also want to introduce my first ever video diary! I’ve been wanting to try vlogging for a while now but I couldn’t think of anything interesting to talk about so I thought Bromo would be my perfect test subject. Now you’ve got to bear with me, I’m really not a natural in front of the camera and my £100 laptop couldn’t handle a great video editor so it’s not the best. I thought it was important for you lovely readers to get a chance to know me better and see what I’m like in person rather than from behind a computer screen; but please ignore my AWFUL voice and weird hybrid accent. It would mean the world if you gave it a watch, it took me near enough 2 days just to export it so I hope you all find it worthy. Enjoy!
